I happened to drive by the site where the former Hudson, Mass depot was moved
to and stood for many years. (On Sawyer Street, visible right off Rte 62, aka
"Main Street", in Hudson.) This was the depot on the Fitchburg line.
I have to imagine the structure had been moved in the 1940s or so. Funny thing
is, I had known it was in the area and had looked for it many times, only to
finally come across it a few months ago. It still had B&M Creme and Maroon
too. I photographed it at that time. (Fall, 2002.)
Well, a couple of weeks ago, (June 2003), I was driving by and noticed that
someone was tearing down a couple of buildings behind it. Then the other day
I was driving by and realized I had not noticed the depot as I passed. So I
turned around to check it out, and sure enough....
Where the depot had stood was a pile of bricks and rubble. I had my digital
camera and snapped this shot in the gathering dusk.
This image should serve as the last photo and epitaph of the Hudson Mass, Fitchburg Division depot. (The bricks and rubble in front of the trailer is what was left.)
Here is Nels Anderson's photo of from Gary Lapointe's site of what this looked like up until a couple of weeks ago.

The Hudson Historical Society, as well as town officials, should have been more vigilant on this. There is no reason this should have been allowed to happen.
Damn. We have lost still another priceless treasure.
